"Did you read the testimony of Jeff Moseley? It is EXCELLENT! Very rare there is a person who understands the problem in depth, very comprehensively, has the facts to back up, and points to the right solution. Notice the frequent mentioning of the 5K quota - this is actually EB quota for unskilled workers. Every EB immigrant stuck in this stupid system should send a thank you note to Jeff.
"It seems, some economists are getting and spreading the message that you posted so many times in this blog about how immigrants help the economy. I think, Greenspan is right on target."
The problem is the economists still have not addressed the issue of skilled migration on FDI. Does restrictions on skilled migration lead to the migration of FDI in other countries? As a result, there has been a vacuum, which has been filled by the likes of Ron Hira, George Borjas and Vernon Briggs in the US and Robert "the Quack" Birell in Australia..a demographer masquerading as an economist. So what do we have? Every year Grassley and Durbin introduce legislation to restrict H1Bs...of course it goes nowhere thankfully and everything is at a standstill.
However, my simple retort folks like Rachel and Jack is not intellectual argument: "Do you think that is fine for Americans in other countries taking jobs from locals? If so are you willing to call for Americans to come back home for good and find employment here? Or is it a one way street with Americans and other western nationals wanting all the privilege?" They only respond with vitriol or never answer the questions. I know for sure that Grassley wants Americans to come back home. He wants to remove all tax incentives to working or investing abroad. The rest of the gang led by Sessions, DeMint and others, they just want special privilege for Americans in employment all over the world..to be more precise white American privilege!
One more thing. My experience with Americans working in countries like Malaysia is that they want privilege. These expats while making close to US$ 500,000 tell the locals that they have come to uplift them, and that the locals should not go even to rich neighboring countries like Singapore and instead stay at home and uplift their country. Thirty years ago white American missionaries in India used to repeat this mantra to their dark skinned flock. Now the American expats have caught up.
