Most of the media was understandably focused on health care reform after yesterday's historic vote in Congress, but the immigration debate was literally right around the corner. An estimated 200,000 marchers filled five long blocks of the Washington Mall yesterday to urge the President and members of Congress to now pivot from health care reform to immigration. This was the first major rally since the May 1, 2006 rallies around the country and it was highlighted by the broadcast of a videotaped message from President Obama.

President Obama reconfirmed his commitment to reform and expressed his support for the Schumer-Graham framework. The President did, however, caution that CIR "won't happen overnight."

The rally was also addressed by Luis Gutierrez, the leading pro-immigration Congressman from Illinois, the Reverend Jesse Jackson and Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ)
