The nation's association promoting international education is urging its members to push for the DREAM Act's passage - http://blog.nafsa.org/2010/12/01/the-dream-act-needs-our-voices-today .
">>>>>>> Well they chose to come here illegally. I do know they came for work. "
Because there was a ton of opportunities for them to come and stay legally, and they CHOSE to come illegally, right? Unlike potential immigrants with college degrees, there is no such thing as H1 for those without, and there are no opportunities to come legally. The quota for unskilled workers in EB is 5,000 a year while 300K-500K come illegally. Yes, they came for work. Just like you and me. H1 is bad enough, and 140K EB quota is bad enough, but the sour deal they got did not even get close to the no-so-good deal we got. That's the point.
I'm happy to see the Dream act gathering support, though I doubt it will pass once the lame duck session is over. I support the bill because though I support the citizenship for military vets provision, as well as the path toward being a productive member of society.
