Texas Governor Rick Perry, not exactly someone I would call pro-immigration, is apparently not wacko enough to pass the purity tests of the extreme anti-immigration pressure groups.

Until an alien who is arrested without a warrant is placed in formal proceedings by the filing of a Notice to Appear (Form I-862), the regulation at 8 C.F.R. � 287.3(c) (2011) doesnot require immigration officers to advise the alien that he or she has a right to counsel and that any statements made during interrogation can subsequently be used against the alien.

Governor Rick Perry added the immigration legislation during a special session last week after a similar bill failed to pass in the senate's regular session. Media reports say public testimony on the issue is expected to last several hours.
