Comment: Deferred Action - Invitation to Speak
As a leader in the immigration world, ILW.COM is fortunate to have excellent relationships with several national and local pro- immigrant and DREAM-related organizations around the country. We are now working with those organizations to plan events for the beneficiaries of the Deferred Action announcement. We are doing events nationwide, with events already scheduled in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest. These are short events typically held weekday evenings where an attorney addresses a room full of about 25-100 attendees. We have held two such events already in New York, and the attendance was towards the higher end of that range. Speaking at an event like this is surely a great way to get your name and face in front of those interested in benefitting from deferred action.
These events will be mostly held after August 15, 2012, i.e. most of these events will occur after USCIS has announced the procedure for Deferred Action applications. However, the planning for the events, including booking schedules/venues etc has necessarily to commence in advance, so that the bar is well positioned to serve the affected immigrant community as soon as USCIS's procedures are in place and USCIS announces itself open for business to accept applications.
We believe that if more high quality and reliable information is out there, fewer people will fall prey to unscrupulous notarios. Also, we see this as one of the situations where what is good for business is also ethical for an attorney and helpful to the public - a win-win situation for all concerned. We encourage attorneys to hold themselves to the highest ethical standards as they pursue this opportunity. Accordingly, we recommend you do not quote fees or attach prices to your services until USCIS makes public the full process by which your future clients will be able to seek employment authorization.
ILW.COM will handle the entire planning and execution of these events - all the attorney needs to do is show up and speak. We will plan the event, book the venue, handle registration, and even work with you to develop the curriculum. There is no better way we can think of to help you make personal contact with people who need your expertise. If you would like to be involved with this very unique marketing opportunity or would like to know more, email us at webmaster@ilw.com.
