This is a very good short synopsis of the problem. The author obviously knows immigration law. Whether or not he ever arrested an illegal alien is unknown, but doubtful. During my 39 year career I arrested thousands of illegal aliens, but also supervised the naturalization of 300,000 new citizens. The problem is much more complicated than presented. Many past laws have failed because administrators in Washington were clueless about what really happens in practice. Unfortunately, there are few Homeland Security employees left who have experience working in the field in both immigration enforcement and immigration benefits. One must understand both of these conflicting programs to understand the illegal alien problem in America.
