About The Author


Jan H. Brown has been practicing immigration law for over 40 years, representing businesses and individuals in securing US immigration status. He is currently a chair of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) International Section’s Afghan Task Force, and is a chair of the NYSBA International Section’s Immigration and Nationality Committee as well. Mr. Brown is a former chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), New York Chapter. He has lectured and written extensively on the subject of US immigration laws before AILA and the NYSBA, among others. He has appeared on ABC and NBC news programs and has been quoted in The New York Times and other publications on immigration topics. Mr. Brown is an editorial reviewer of Kurzban’s Immigration Law Sourcebook. He was an advisor to Senator Norm Coleman of Minnesota concerning foreign student visas during the Senator’s tenure on the Foreign Relations Committee. Mr. Brown is the author of the popular immigration themed cartoon series, Brown Around Town. Mr. Brown’s 2020 Second Circuit Federal Court victory, Alzokari v. Pompeo, stopped the US Department of State from revoking passports of US citizens based on their use of more than one name.
