I have an H-1B status. Recently I was convicted for DUI. Can I be a subject for deportation? If no, what kind of problems I can have for prolongantion of my visa or obtaining a green card?

... on the conviction you received, it may be serious enough to cause "inadmissiablilty" and/or "removabability" and consequently inability to adjust your status to that of permanent residency.

Or it could be simple enough to be forgiven after as little as 5 yrs. Talk to an attorney or research the law what kind of a conviction (misdemeanor/felony) it is. One DUI by itself is usually forgivable, but two such or any other problem and it can become a permanent bar.

    Good luck.
