Why shouldn't women be required to register together with their husbands, brothels, and sons? Aren't they equal to men, in all respects, including terrorism? We all know there are a lot of women spies, terrorists, and killers out there...

The Special Registration program discriminates against women!

  2. #2
Special registration is a racist and stupid program.

  3. #3
Exactly, "Discrimination": If they would really tailor this program to fight terrorism, women shouldn't have to be excluded -- this is just another sign that the Special Registration program is racist, sexist, highly discriminatory!

"Loose Lips Sink Ships". Lips don't come much looser than hers.

Her name means, "Child of the Dawn" in Hindi, or "Eye of the Dawn" in Malay. She was, they said, the daughter of a Brahmin and an initiate into the rituals of sacred Kandiswami dance.

Oh, and she danced Nekkid, too. That helped a lot.

Not surprisingly, she created furor in the early 1900s in Paris. The Follies Bergere nearly had drool ditches cut into the floors for the Frenchmen gathered in mobs to admire her... cultural diversity. They apparently thought she was pretty OK, even though she shaved her armpits. Who says the French are intolerant?

Ah, if they only knew. The dusky jewel of India was, in fact, the hotsie from Holland, who knew about as much about sacred Kandiswami dances as I know about advanced quantum theory. The major difference between her and I being that she could jiggle her goodies with a fake jewel in her bellybutton and have all of France fall at her feet. I shudder to even begin to think about the consequences of that kind of stunt on my part, as would all of my friends and acquaintances.

Margaretha Geertruida Zelle was the name that Ma Zelle had given her, which meant "Margaret Gertrude" in Dutch. Her task done, Mom died not long thereafter, leaving Margie to the tender mercies of her chronically depressed and bankrupt father. Margie wanted out, and found her exit at 17 by answering a prank 'mail order bride' advertisement placed for a Colonel stationed in the Dutch East Indies. The joke ended up being on the prankster; Margie shook 'em, and shook Captain Rudolph McLeod down for a wedding ring, two kids, and a little bungalow in Java.

It was a happy little relationship, until Rudy forced his intentions on a servant girl. In retaliation, the girl's family poisoned one of their children, the Captain was dismissed from duty, and the remaining McLeods moved back to Holland. It didn't take long before Rudy was reduced to hitting the bottle and hitting on the bar maids. Marge stopped off long enough to drop her other child off for Auntie Olga to raise, and took off for her hot date with destiny in Paris.

She arrived in Paris with nothing but her clothes. And, hearing once that 'Less is More', shed those, along with her previous identity. After that, she wanted for absolutely nothing in life (except a good source of contraception, a steady supply of "Indian Teak" body stain, and a strong dose of Penicillin now and then). Eventually, WWI started, and Mata found out that she had a uniform fetish; and the more stars, bars, ribbon and doodads on it the better. Her boudoir became the hospitality suite of French High Command. The German army showed Mata how her hunger could be turned from fun to profit, and soon her vast range of pillow talk became military intelligence for the Kaiser.

Or was it for France? The latest thought is that she was playing one end against the other; a strategy that had served her exceedingly well in her Parisian halcyon days. In any case, it was the French who caught her in 1917 (possibly set up by the Germans, who found out that they too were being used), jailed her, and ultimately set her up for a command performance in front of the firing squad. And performance it was. She dressed stylishly for the affair, and, refusing blindfold or binding, blew a kiss to the boys on the firing squad...

The fantasies of the criminal were vile: to stalk and kidnap a teenage girl, to rape and torture her, to dispose of her like garbage. "We'll finish her," the criminal noted smugly in a diary.

They sounded like the fantasies of a typical sexual sadist, whose utter contempt for women lies at the heart of feminist critiques of male sexuality.

But lo and behold, they were scripted by a woman, one Crystal Henricks of Willow River, B.C., who was convicted last April of drugging and raping at least 22 victims, recording her adventures on videotape, and her fantasies in her diary, along with her husband, James Bennett.

The 20-year-old Henricks narrowly averted an application by the Crown that she be declared a dangerous offender, on the basis that she is a sexual predator, and, as such, a danger to our children.

The Crown faltered, I would suspect, because we live in a culture that can barely acknowledge robust female sexual desire, let alone the presence amongst us of female sexual predators. Nasty desires in women have to be the fault of a man. Or blame it on impressionable youth (not that male teens get any such break), or on mental illness, on depression, childhood abuse, on something. Just not on libido, nor taste for the thrill, nor on a will to power.

I was reminded of this by the latest self-righteous antics of l'il Miss Psychopath Karla Homolka, who appears to have received self-esteem boosts galore in prison, but not, as far as I can discern, anything approaching comprehensive sex offender treatment.

As I recall, having had to sit through that horrible, nervous-breakdown-making hell of a trial, Homolka was not exactly shoplifting when she broke the law. Sexual power was the name of the game she was playing, legitimate, illicit and murderous, and to think she'll just walk away from that toxic addiction is so naive it makes me cry.

But what can we do to reassure ourselves about that? Nothing. That's why news of her request to slink off into a Montreal halfway house triggers such an alarm. Do we know if she has her sexual impulses under control? Do we know if she can keep her paws to herself? Is her proclivity for serial rape intrinsic to her sexuality, or not? How would we know?

We wouldn't have a clue. Male sex offenders are subjected to all sorts of sophisticated tests that measure "deviant sexual arousal" and help prison officials determine their fitness to leave institutions.

Female sex offenders, according to Dr. Eva Chow at Toronto's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, are instead given therapy on a case-by-case basis, usually to address "situational factors" such as abuse and depression.

To find a test that actually measures female deviance, I had to call as far afield as Texas. A treatment facility in Garland is pioneering programs that take female sex offences seriously, and has developed equipment to measure their levels of arousal when exposed to different stimuli. "Canada's not doing a whole lot with their women sex offenders," Maria Mollett, head of the Counselling Institute of Texas, told me. "We're finding that the research is totally outdated. The profession has allowed women to get away with it by treating them like victims. Bull#####. That's not what we're seeing. They have deviant sexual arousal."

Mollett gave me some examples of how the women she's treating actually think about sex with, for instance, young boys. "I saw his c--- ," one woman said in response to a displayed photo, "and I wanted to f--- him."

Studies of male paedophiles and rapists have shown that, when they themselves were sexually abused as children, roughly half were molested by women. Yet the notion that women can be sexual aggressors, capable of objectifying those they desire, and desiring them deviantly, is so politically incorrect, not to mention unpleasant, we have barely begun this sort of research.

We see female teachers arrested for sexual abuse of their students. We know there are female stalkers. We have a study, from 1996, in which 42% of a sample of New Jersey female college students reported being sexually aggressive with men.

But these are just glimpses. Much of the landscape remains hidden. You don't find what you don't seek.

"Have you ever heard of a woman arrested for exposing herself?" I remember one sex offence expert asking. "No, because female exhibitionists become topless dancers." And the deviance, which is watching, is attributed to men.

There's no doubt that there are out there dangerous women, yet it appears that INS did not want to sound mean when eventually detaining women, I guess.

women can be dangerous... however violent crimes are more frequently committed by men than women - check any research on this matter.

Violent crimes committed by women, like homicide, are generally directed at self protection from someone like an abusive male or at their children (infanticide). These types of crimes do not pose a threat to the USA at this time.

This does not mean that women are all good people, just that they are generally less likely to commit violent crimes.

Do you know that it was a 16 years old girl in Palestine who became a suicide bomber. Excuse me, women can be as dangerous as men in this world of 21st century. Please get out of your small town and see around what happening in this world.

There are good reasons for women suicide bombers, and anyone who knows what's happening to women in the Middle East can't be surprised.

This is not the first time there have been women martyrs from Palestine. Between June 1967 and October 1985, there were 353 terrorist attacks inside Israel and each caused casualties. In the era of Oslo and the early days of the Palestinian Authority there were a near endless parade of suicide bombers who murdered Israeli civilians in acts of terror. There were, in the interstices of the terrorists, young women, often women who had been raped, sometimes by men in their own families. Rather than face an ignominious death, the young women wrapped themselves with explosives and committed a glorious suicide, one that would raise them up into the elite of martyrdom. Now one sees the same happening with exemplary young women, whose motives have to do with trying to scale the heights of a woman-hating society. How does one rise up in a land where women are lower than the animals? If one does what the men do, does one get a measure of the respect the community gives the men?

It is better, easier, and more logical to blame the Israelis for women's suffering than to blame the men who both sexually abuse and then kill them according to honor society rules. Says one woman: "It is as if we were in a big prison, and the only thing we really have to lose is that. Imagine what it is like to be me, a proud, well-educated woman who has traveled to many countries. Then see what it is like to be an insect, for that is what the [Israeli] soldiers call us-cockroaches, dogs, insects."

The female suicide bombers are idealists who crave committing a pure act, one that will wipe away the stigma of being female. The Palestinian community is not sacrificing low women, women of no accomplishment, women with no future. Instead, the women suicide bombers are the society's best in terms of human resources, a perverted example of the best and the brightest. There are reasons for this.

The first has to do with sexual abuse. Israeli and Palestinian feminists have worked together in rape crisis centers to repair the torn hymens of Palestinian rape victims. This is a life-saving procedure, since sexual abuse is perceived as a form of the woman having prostituted. There is no empathy, no post-traumatic stress disorder, no redemption, no revenge against the rapist, no legal prosecution of him. Instead for the woman or girl there is secrecy or death. In becoming suicide bombers, women trade in the lowly status of the raped woman for the higher status of a martyr. The fact that women suicide bombers have not been recognized as such before this current onslaught of anti-Israeli aggression has to do with the invisibility of women in general and the necessary silence of injured women.

The second reason for women suicide bombers is to try to rise in the nationalist struggle so that when that struggle is over the status of women will be recognized as deserving of citizenship and equality. In Algeria women fought heroically. All the rules that bind women seemed to change. Women were in the company of men. Women were brave. Women were not hidden. After liberation the women were pushed back down. A similar dynamic took place with Israeli women, needed to fight and to settle the land early on, now distinctly second-class, especially under increasingly influential religious law.

The third reason is pride: the deep-seated belief that a young woman can be as brave, as sacrificing, as willing to submit to revolutionary imperatives as men. Girls and young women want to stand up to the Israelis, hard to do in a landscape of maniacal fighting men. The best and brightest are motivated to stand up for their families: their beaten fathers, their destroyed homes, their angry mothers, and the brothers who are civilly superior to them.

In this time of terror, there is no tie between Israeli and Palestinian women, no conviction on the part of Palestinian women that the Israeli women they are killing have anything in common with them. Even though policy is made in both communities by aggressive, angry men, there is no sisterhood to speak of, no sense that there but for the grace of God go I. Instead adult Palestinian men pick out those needing or desiring martyrdom, strap explosives around them and send them into Hell, not Heaven. The more women want to prove their worth, the more women suicide bombers there will be. The lower the Israelis push the "cockroaches," the angrier the accomplished Palestinian women will be, and sisterhood between them and the young bombers will also disappear. The older women will let the younger women do the dirty work. They will not stop them.

Both Israeli and Palestinian men push women into an anti-sisterhood camouflaged as nationalist liberation.
