    That depends on whom you marry. US citizen- yes. LPR- perhaps eventually. Alien- not through marriage.

    What do you do? Go to and read, "How do I become a permanent resident while in the United States." Post again if you have specific questions.

    How long will it take to get LPR status? It depends on where you live. Go to the processing times link.
    How long will I be given permanent resident status? Two years if you are married for less than two years at the time of adjustment. Then you have to apply for removal of the conditional status. Forever (until you die, become a citizen, abandon residency, or are removed from the US) although the card will only be good for 10 years.
