Thread: TSC I_130 process time for stepson

  1. #1
I recently married a lady and is helping get her son over to US. He is considered my stepson and therefore he doesn't have to wait for a quota available. But the Texas Service Center's receipt is very disappointed: it will take from 990 - 999 days. I sent a letter to their office about two months ago but never heard from them. I am interested in knowing:

    1) Is 999 a typo in the receipt letter?
    2) I checked the TSC process time for I-130 and it showed a date of 6/15/2001. This means more than two years! Could this be true? I helped my mother on her GC through I-130 and it took less than a year,(Which was, of course, before 9-11). But 2 years or 999 days are just too long. Don't you agree?

Anybody knows if there is anything wrong with TSC? I have noticed that that 6/15/2001 date has NOT been moved forward for months. Any idea here? Other service centers such as California has a date of 2/3/2003, which is more reasonable.

Do you think if there is any thing I can do to speed it up

    Thanks.

Unfortunately, there is no way of speeding-up the process. You may want to look into whether he would qualify for a V Visa in the interim.

    To answer your questions:

    1) No, it isn't a typo. It should be longer, but the form doesn't have room for more numbers.
    2) Yes, it is true and I agree that it is too long. Immediate used to have a different definition.
    3) There is nothing "wrong" with TSC. Service Centers have other priorities coupled with security delays.
    4) There is nothing you can do to speed it up or fix it.

What is a V visa? Would you please let me know more about it?

    Thx.

    Hi Beecave,

Not sure if this will help or not but I spoke with someone from the Dallas,TX BSIC office last week and they said for most cases they are running on 15 months ( which puts it at the end of December for me) from receipt date to green card.
I was also in to see my lawyer last week and she showed me the BCIS sheet that they have from them and she showed me and it said on there that they are now working on cases reciepted on May 2002. So that again comes up at December for me.
So it may not be as long as you were told but of course every situation is different and that is only what I was told by 2 different places.
Hope this gives you a little hope.
    :-)
