Thread: Affidavit of Support - Form I-864 please help

    my case is as follow,my mom made my case to me as f2b and my date will become current soon,but the problem my mom never work in the us as she is old and can't work ,so she never file for the tax,but the nvc need her to submit the Affidavit of Support - Form I-864 ,how can i proof that she didn't work and so she need not to file tax and get another co-sponsor to support me ?

    Hi. Unfortunately, the idea behind the I-864 is that the person who sponsors you has the money to guarantee that you will not become a "burden to the system".

    The point is not to see whether or not people filed taxes, it is to show how much money they made.

    If your mom cannot demonstrate adequate income (about $14,000 a year) she will need to have a co-sponsor in order to sponsor you.

    as long as you have a co-sponsor that can provide enough money for you, you can most likely just enclose an affadavit from your mom stating that she has not been working and therefore has had no need to file taxes.

    Most of their time will be spent looking at your co-sponsor's documents, because all they care about is someone taking responsibility for you!

    thanks for the clear answer,actually i have alot of co-sponsor who can sponsor me,about my mom enclose does it need to be sign from the irs,or just written by her and it is enough?
