Thread: Crossing Border with I-751 pending.

I just thought I would relay the following about crossing a border with an I-751 pending.

    1) In Toronto (Pearson Airport) last December I was asked if I was still married (which I was); no other questions.

    2) In Edmonton (Airport) yesterday, I was not asked any questions about my marriage status or otherwise.

I travelled with my expired temporary GC and the official receipt extending my GC for 1 year along with my Canadian Passport. That was all the documentation required by the inspecting officer. There was no issue crossing the border; next step - getting an extension to my extension from the district office in October.

Just thought those of you who know my situation would be interested.

I suppose that was the US/Canada border by land right?

By the way ARQU, have you determined where you stand with your divorce while your I-751 decision was pending? What do lawyers and BCIS said because I see your situation is not covered by the current procedures.

Also, did you write to the BCIS director?

    ARQU:

Thank you very much for posting the information. Please I appreciate if you can keep doing this, since my case will be exactly as yours except I will get a divorce instead of an annulment, and I filed in Jan 2003 with Vermont.

    Thanks

I will keep everyone posted... I need to visit my local district office to get my extension extended - that could be interesting to say the least...

By the way, I crossed the border at a pre-flight check in an airport not a land crosssing...

I have no other information other than the fact that the lawyers I have talked to so far conceed that they do not know what the BCIS wants done in this scenario. They are guessing at what they think should be done and they have admitted that.

I think the key will be hearing other people's actual experiences once they start processing the I-751's at VSC again...

Until then... We will have to sit and speculate ourselves...
