Thread: Voluntary Departure

  1. #1
    Hi,
I just had my hearing court and the judge granted me the voluntary departure and the judge didn't say anything about posting bond. So I guess I don't need to post any bonds then. The other thing is, since my passport was taken when I went to the special registration, I wonder how to get my passport back. And do you think it's possible for me to come back to US and getting into the same school. I have been out of status for 1 year that's why I have been in removal proceedings.
    Thanks much

They will give you passport back when you get to the plane...the ins officers will give your passport to the plane personnel which will be given back to you on your last flight home...if not a staright flight at each airport an Ins officer will wait for you and will hold your passport til u get on next plane...

Hi, I have a question, what happens to someone who is reported to have overstayed their visa, how are they treated? are they imprisioned or just asked to leave the country voluntary? A friend of mine, a middle aged lady, overstayed her visitors visa, she fears that is has been reported but is not sure. I am very worried for this lady as she has not broken any other laws, just overstayed to be with people she loves. She is a timid lady and I would not like to think of her behind bars. Any information you can give on how this type of thing is handled would be much appreciated as if this is the case I would like to help her.
