Thread: I-601 interview

Hi everyone. I just received word that a date has been set for my husband's interview with the US embassy in his country.

Basically, we need to apply for the I-129 and I-601 (I think these are the correct forms.) We have been informed that the correct procedure is to set up an interview, and at the time of the interview provide the necessary documentation.

I am a little excited (it means something is happening) and more than a little nervous, I am also absolutely terrified that this won't work.

Anyway, our date is not until mid-December and we have some paperwork to finish up before then. I would like to know if anyone can tell us what to expect from the interview, and whether there is any advice that anyone can give us.

    Thanks.

    Spouse,

Here is a list of I-601 waivers cases. (Thanks for the link, Misty). If you haven't already, I strongly suggest that you go here and read these cases to get a better idea of what you will be up against.

You should document, in as much detail as possible, how the separation would be a hardship to YOU if he were not allowed to return. You might want to consider making appointments for counselors and/or therapists and having them document your mental state. Have family members and friends write about how it has and will affect you. You must send all of these things to your husband to take to the interview with him. The more evidence you have, the better your chances.

    Good luck and God bless!

Has anyone actually gone to an interview like this? We have been told that it will be very brief and that our documentation will really have to speak for us. But if anyone has any ideas what types of questions the INS will be asking or if anyone has any idea of what they will be looking for... I would really appreciate your imput.

(and as usual Juju... thanks for your imput, you really are an inspiration to us all!)

    M,

On the contrary, you all are an inspiration to me! I don't know what I'd be doing without you!

I would also like to know if anyone else has gone through this process. Anyone?

As stated in another thread's subjec: Mythical 601 Waiver.

I am also interested in people who have gone through it. I do have links to cases, but I would like to contact someone who has been through it. I wonder how many people just give up on the waiver and 1)move to their lovers home country 2) move to a different country 3)divorce

I guess you must be right... I was just thinking that maybe someone had some knowledge of a part of the process.

Oh well, if anyone has gone to ANY immigration interviews, I would be interested in hearing about them.

For those of you who are in the waiver process, have you heard the same thing about getting an interview and presenting the application for a waiver at that point?
