Yes, its normal not to get the conditional green card right away. Did they put a stamp in your passport?

    Hi...

Thanks for responding. This is for my friend. I'm not sure if they stamped the passport or not bc the only thing he told me was he didnt get the greencard. He waiting till he sees me to tell me what happen. If they didnt stamp it what would all this mean. I will find out in 2 days when I see him what happen at the interview. How long does it normally take to get the greencard if they stamped the passport?? Thanks for everything. Im so scared for him.

It takes a few months to get conditional GC thru mail, but right now they are probably going to do to some security check on him before sending the GC.

If they didnt stamp the passport, it might men that INS is gonna request more informations like proof of income or IRS transcripts.

My first interview was with the Department of State and not the INS since we went through the embassy, so they may do things a little differently, but basically they asked us to show proof of marriage, like marriage photographs, copies of leases, receipts from hotels for our honeymoon, cards of congratulations, correspondence from relatives, etc. They also seperated us and asked us questions about each other's families, how we met, what kind of dates we went on, our friends and general information about each other's lives. After that, nothing happened, they just told us to proceed with the application.

When I went for the interview, they didn't give me the card or the stamp. They had to do the background checks. I got a letter a few months later asking me to come down to the INS office to get the stamp on my passport.

It's totally normal not to get the card the day of the interview.
