Thread: Question about the NEW 2009 US citizen test

  1. #1
Has anyone already took the new US citizen test for neutralization this year?

They have over 100 questions, and I am curious, how many questions literally will actually be asked at the test?

One of my co worker, only had to answer like 6 questions and had to write and read 2 senetences. That was all..

    thanks

    Hi HBKHBK,

I know Britguy got his citizenship recently, but not sure if it was before or after the new test was implemented. I can almost guarantee they will not ask you 100 questions. They will pick out several to ask, but you need to know the answers to all of them because you won't know which ones they will ask.

You taking the test soon??? If so, best of luck to you and keep us posted!

Just to add, my hairdresser took her test last year and they only asked her about 6 or 7 questions. She stumbled on a few, but they went easy on her and gave her more chances. She passed and was able to vote in the election last year.

Adjudication officer will ask only 10 questions to test your knowledge on US history and civics. Applicant MUST need to answer 6 questions correctly out of 10 in order to pass this test. That being said, if applicant will answer 6 questions correctly first, officers don't even bother asking rest of the 10 questions.

As for taking the new test then the rules/policies of USCIS are still the same on taking the test, it's just that new test has more questions than older one. Each officer conducts this test differently. Some officers take answer verbally; while others do in writing. Having a multiple choices option won't be given. Most of the time officers conduct this test verbally. As for testing applicant's knowledge on wrting in English, officer must be asking to write at least 2-3 simple sentences in English. For testing reading knowledge in English, officer will ask applicant to read 2-3 sentences.

    Good luck....

10 and you have to get 6 correct. So passing score for new US citizens is a solid D.

This country is going to hell.

I'll be more worried about that when I see how people born here would do on the same test

Yeah, we used to give literacy tests, etc before you could vote, but liberals outlawed that.

    Thanks,

the one thing I know, you CAN not fail the test.
I know if you can't answer 6 out of 10 questions, they'll just ask you more, until you get 6 answers right.
I do not recal any incident where someone literally failed and was denied to have the citizenship due to the test.
Unless, someone truly does not speak english and could not even answer what the colors are of the U.S. flag or where the capital is.
But so far, I never heard of one incident at all, where someone failed and was denied citizenship lol
