Rep. Smith Still Convinced Obama is Planning "Backdoor" Amnesty, Tries to Stop

U.S. Representative Lamar Smith from Texas (R-San Antonio) is still pushing to strip the Obama Administration of all immigration enforcement duties because he believes the president is setting up some sort of “backdoor” amnesty for undocumented immigrants.
Congressman Lamar introduced HR 2497, known as the Hinder the Administration’s Legalization Temptation (HALT) Act to stop the president, and only the current president, from implementing the yet-unused power to stop deportations.

    That's PR stunt.
HALT probably won't pass through Senate (although, considering how Democrats make compromises in last minute while Repubs consistently yield nothing in return, I wouldn't exclude the possibility of HALT becoming a law at some point in near future).

But still, it sounds more like a PR stunt, it's written for soundbites and for headlines, in essence it is an egregious misrepresentation of Morton memo.

BTW, I did some research on memos and came to conclusion that Morton memo, in turn , was also a PR stunt, because he was only reiterating and repeating the exact same words about Prosecutorial Discretion that you can read in memos issued by consecutive INS/USCIS headquarters under Clinton and Bush.

If you have resources to capture and remove 400,000 , and you have 12,000,000 to remove, no matter what you will not remove remaining 11,600,000 until you get to next fiscal year and funds appropriated to continue the job.

So, since only 400,000 can be removed in a given fiscal year and many more will have to wait until later , why not make sure that you don't remove some 70 years old nanny while leaving a serial killer roam the streets? What is logic to be against this memo? Is Morton memo saying "We have resources and can deport 12 mil but I order you to halt it for 11.6 mil"? Or is he saying "Of those 400,000 you have funds to deport, make sure you don't remove such and such and reduce the numbers to less than 400,000"? Of course not!

So, there is no logic to make a noise and oppose Morton memo, and everyone who reads it and understands the law knows it well, but it makes a good sound-bite to pave the road to the next election.

And how does it justify decrying Morton memo as an amnesty?
Aside from fact that Morton didn't add a word to pre-existing and pre-dating Obama admin memos on Prosecutorial Discretion, answer this:

Why do you advocate that Terrorists and Criminals stay longer in US and have 70 years old nannies deported instead?

Because that's what, in fact, opponents of Morton memo advocate. I even wonder why doesn't Morton or Democratic establishment use such lunatic protests of common sense memo against the critics?

What does Morton memo say? It says obvious: resources are limited to removing 400,000 per year while 12 mils , at least, are present.
Given the fact that only 400,000 can be removed within any given year, let's make sure that we have a priority whereby those who pose most danger and risk of harm are removed first and foremost of all, while those that pose least risk can be dealt with at later time
    .

Now, what is wrong with this memo?
To vehemently oppose this memo is in effect to advocate for terrorists and criminals to stay in US longer and have some nannies and grass-cutters fill the available slots in buses and planes dispatched out of US.

How can anyone with any sense in his mind advocate such a thing?

Let's leave Smith aside, he is a politician, he will say and do whatever it takes to get re-elected and whatever infuses cash into his re-election campaign, but how do YOU, SunDevilUsa reason the opposition to Morton memo?
