    Hi all,
    I had my last green card interview on may 26th and green card is in the mail. However i would like some info on how long do i have to wait to marry and apply for my fiance. He was admitted to the country on a visitors visa for one year and has overspent his time. he's now been here for 5yrs. will be thankful to all info.

    Natalia,
    You can marry any time you want, as long as you are legally able to marry ie not married to someone else and you are an adult.

    About filing papers for him, you can file for him while you have the green card, but it will take long to have the case adjudicated, while you still have a green card only, because waiting times for spouses of green card holders is long; around 4 years.

    What you can do is file papers for him after you marry, then if you become a citizen before he has his papers through you, send USCIS a letter to tell them you have become a citizen and they will process the papers almost immediately.

    Just as an aside, how did you get your green card?
