A 32-year-old man wanted in connection with a 2008 south side homicide has been arrested after trying to pass himself off as an illegal immigrant, authorities said.

Daniel N. Taddey was detained by U.S. Border Patrol agents on Thursday in the the Nogales Sector, a Border Patrol news release said.

He is the fifth person to be arrested in connection with the Nov. 13, 2008 death of Frank T. Gonzales, 35, who was found shot to death in the 700 block of East 35th Street, said Sgt. Diana Lopez, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
Taddey initially told Border Patrol agents he was an illegal immigrant, but after admitting he was a U.S. citizen it was determined he had a warrant for suspicion of first-degree murder, the Border Patrol release said.

He was turned over to the Tucson Police Department, which booked him into the Pima County jail on one count each of suspicion of first-degree murder and suspicion of kidnapping, Lopez said.
Two of Taddey’s relatives — 33-year-old Carlos Taddey and 25-year-old Jose Taddey — were arrested in 2008 and are awaiting trial on first-degree murder and kidnapping charges, as is 30-year-old Gilbert Gonza***, who was arrested July 30, court and police records show.

A fifth suspect, 35-year-old Ivan Chaparro-Garcia, pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution and was sentenced in October to 3 1/2 years in prison, court records show.

Chaparro-Garcia told police he helped get rid of bloody blankets and clothing associated with Gonzales’ murder, court documents show.
