Thread: need advice pls help..

    hello every one i know mostly of you know me here,but something i would like to ask,my mom had a friend and she said they adjust her status on 2004 feb,and got her green card conditional on feb 2005 and she said they file there I-751 on july 2007 she got her extention letter for one year they said they went to enterview and the immigration officer ask there state i.d. and then the immigration officer did't say nothing to them and they escort them out to the office and go home,according to there lawyer said for follow up the immigration sent there papers to texas since they where living and residence in states of north carolina they went for interview in charlottle immigration office,and they wondering why they sent this papers in taxes they dont know what to do,and since her extention letter already expired but she still working in same company is she going to get in troble is she going to get deported,her conditonal green card expired and the extention letter expired,is she illegal immigrant now,need advice..

    Well, pamheart.. if status was adjusted in Feb 2005, and she filed to remove conditions in July 2007, she was late and if she did not have a good reson for the delay, USCIS may have started the termination of her residency back then... However, the interview (when was it?) may have postponed that... but late filling certainly made things more complicated.

    I don't think she is in immediate danger of being deported or similar.. she can claim she is still waiting for the results from the I-751 interview. And as such, she can get an I-551 stamp ih her passport at the local office. That stamp will prove that she is legal resident...

    So, to try to get that stamp and to see what's going on with the petition, I would recommend an Infopass and a trip to local USCIS office.
