Thread: Just engaged to a foreigner...

  1. #1
Now what? My fiance is from Mainland China and came here five yrs. ago on an F-1 visa, has never been out of status and has been working for an H1 sponsor for over a year now. We've been together for two years. Once we get married (here in the US, I am a citizen), how long can we expect to wait until she is able to travel outside the US with me? We're in no hurry for the actual green card or citizenship. We just want to travel and face no hassles for her getting back into the US. And about how much does all this cost? Thanks.

    ............

    As for the cost,
    I-130 $190
    I-485 $325
    I-131 advanced parole $170
    I-765 Employment authorization $180
biometrics fee $70 (not sure this is included with one of the application)
    for a total of $935

Also, if you hire a lawyer to do it, it will run you anywhere from $1000-2000. It's doable by yourself, but they not so simple and will require a lot of time. So plan on spending $2-3000.
