In the update of its Red List of Threatened Species released today, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) says that more than 40 percent of species that have been assessed worldwide are threatened with extinction.

Some of the great apes - chimps, gorillas, and orangutans - could be extinct in the wild within a human generation, a new assessment concludes. Human settlement, logging, mining and disease mean that orangutans in parts of Indonesia may lose half of their habitat within five years. There are now more than 20,000 humans on the planet for every chimpanzee.

There are believed to be fewer than 300 Sumatran rhinos left in the world and they are considered one of the most endangered rhino species because of the intensity of poaching. Rhino numbers globally have been devastated because rhino horn carries a high price on the black market, where it is predominantly sold for use in traditional Asian medicines.

    Ok who are you?
Did you get a job posting on this site or what?
How much are you making an hour?

If you haven't signed yet, you've wasted your time posting all the links, which anybody interested in the issue of threatened species can do their own search. Have you heard about Google by any chance?
I don't want to be unpolite, but there's little to no sense in posting links and copying/pasting text if you're not contributing any thoughts of your own.
    Just a thought.. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Probably an out of work high school or college student with way too much time on their hands.

I share the same opinion. While some of the posted quotes from articles are interesting, this person is taking it a bit too far and sometimes really off topic. Not fair for the board to be filled up with this stuff when the original intent was to help with immigration questions.

This board is only for information on how to get immigrants deported; stop wasting out time on Nazi Polar Bears!!!
