Thread: About health insurance

  1. #1
Hi, I really need someone's help here so please take your time to read. I am a mexican native with a tourist visa that allows me to come back and forth every six months (It's valid until 2011). I have been in the US for almost 4 years. First a student visa, then a J-1. Now i'm just using the tourist visa. I don't have a degree so there is no way I can get a work visa. I am getting to the point that I just want to stay ilegally, it's hard to fly back and forth. I want to know if my health insurance (works here and in Mexico) would still be valid if I'm here ilegally, also if I would be forgiven if I eventually get married to an american citizen.

WOW! A Mexican with a visa.

I don't know about the health insurance, but I think you CAN adjust status by marrying a USC, since you entered WITH inspection.

sounds like you need to call up your health insurance co and ask. how are we supposed to know if you haven't even told us what kind of insurance it is?

Thanks J and Taco, I will contact the company to find out. My health insurance covers major emergencies while I'm abroad, this is only in case of an accident, it doesn't cover doctor's appointments. I pay for it in Mexico and it's valid there and in any other country.

Thanks a lot for the replies!
