Thread: Revised Income multiple for 2007 (I-864)

  1. #1
I recently met with an Attorney that indicated the "Income Multiple" used to help make up where income is lacking for the Avadavit of Support has changed from 5 to 3.

In other words previously you were required to have in savings $5,000 for every $1000 lacking in income.

This has apparently now changed to $3,000.

I trust this attorney, yet I am not finding this online anywhere.

Does anyone here know about this.

I remember reading about that...in the same memo that says only the last year of tax-returns will be required (before was for the last 3 years).

Where could I find that memo?

I've gone to the USCIS site to no avail.

Thanks that link however was March 2006 and it stil reflects the old "5 times" method.

Apparently something occurred late 2006 or early '07 related to the "5 times" now being "3 Times".

I really need to get that memo or directive, If I call USCIS I'll get the royal run around.

aneri: we have the same line of thought... what aspect of I-864 do you think RaceB is referring to?

Poverty guidelines, are they before or after tax? I received a letter, even though i covered the requirements, i needed to send in pay stubs, tax returns for last year and could .... for the past three.....and a letter from employer... so go figure....
