Thread: I-130 beneficiery moved to another country

  1. #1
    Hi,

I am a citizen and I filed I-130 in 2000 for my brother who used to live in Hong Kong as a permanent resident.
A few years ago he moved back to his native India where he is originally from. I just received a notification this week that my petition has been approved. I have not yet filed a change of address with proof of address. Will US Immigration services send a notice to Hong Kong address and contact Hong Kong consulate? Can this be fixed easily? Any idea how quickly things proceed after the approval notice, considering that the approval has taken over 8 years.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Rajana

    Hi Rajana and welcome,

Is there anyone at the Hong Kong address your brother still knows that could forward the notice to him in India?

You need to notify USCIS and NVC as to change of address. The IV needs to go to the post having jurisdiction over the alien's place of residence.

In the near future, National Visa Center will contact you in writing regarding receipt of your approved I-130 and further processing.

At that time, you can write a letter to NVC and inform them current address of your brother. No need to panic.
