Thread: Acquiring a drivers license

  1. #1
Please help... I applied for 245i, been here since 2 years old. I don't have enough points to apply for a drivers license. My parents were not able to fix our papers before. What to do? Thanks.

What state do you currently reside in?

I am not a lawyer nor do I claim to be one so please double-check any information given by me, or anyone else for that matter, with a certified (immigration)lawyer before you take any further steps.

I read in one of the ILW members "Diana" that it is easy to get a DL in Washington? Which one WA,State or WA,DC. I'ts just so frustrating not to be able to drive to work.

I think the state you are thinknig of is Oregon, not Washington. But if you applied under 245i then you should have a work permit by now, and that is all you need in NJ. WHat do you mean you don't have enough"points" yet.

    Hi!

I am 26 and illegally here.
If you have TIN Tas ID # you can go too florida and get a license . They don't require social security #'s .

Doesn't life as an immigrant suck in the states.
I am so frustrated with it.

Vegasguy--And just why would you think life as an illegal alien here would or should be so good? So easy?

The only complaints I've heard from legal immigrants are related to the inefficiencies of the immigration system, which occur largely because it has to use resources to deal with illegal aliens, or "legalizing" illegals.

I dont think thats correct anymore, VEgasguy...about the drivers license in Florida..They now require proof of legal status along with the tax or ss#. how long ago did you get your license? this happened after 9/11.
