Thread: I-130 or I-129F?

  1. #1
Quick question....My husband and I have received approval for both the I-130 and the I-129F. I am the USC living in New Jersey and he is an Egyptian national living close to Cairo. Which is better to pursue? Should we wait it out and have him come here as an immigrant? Or should he come as a non-immigrant and adjust status? Am I right to assume that adjusting status is a long drawn out process? I'd like him here as fast as possible but sometimes fastest isn't smartest so if anyone could offer some insight I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

    Hi Nasus,

most couples in your situation are going for I-130; meaning CR-1 or IR-1.
You are correct, AOS can be a loooong process.

Check out http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php , there are several posts from people with similar dilemma.

    Hi Aneri,

I did go to that site and it was very informative. Looks like we will go the I-130 route and practice patience. (Not that patience was ever a quality I possessed before..lol). Many thanks for your reply.
