Thread: VISA CUT-OFF DATE

  1. #1
The year 2005 could be another big set back for many immigrants. The message is really disappointing.

The information is provided by http://www.immigration-law.com/

Here is the cut off date for upcoming Oct, 2004

    Worldwide India Mexico Philippines
    FB-1 10/22/00 10/22/00 03/22/93 08/15/90

    FB-4 08/15/92 11/01/91 08/15/92 05/22/82

Visa Availability During the Coming Months:
Family: As CIS demand for visa numbers continues to increase, little if any forward movement of cut-off date is expected during FY-2005, and the potential for retrogressions in certain categories cannot be ruled out. While retrogression of certain Family cut-off dates is not likely in the immediate future, it cannot be ruled out later in the fiscal year. This is because the CIS backlog is likely to include large numbers of applicants in all categories with priority dates well before the current cut-off dates.
Employment: The increasing CIS use of numbers is likely to require the establishment of cut-off dates in one or more categories during FY-2005. Such action is expected in the Employment Third preference categories as early as January.

A whole fiscal year is predicted with little movements... I mean how do they expect people to react to that?

This must be effecting Immigration Lawyers too... their business must be slow due to these "FREEZE" periods.

This is why we need KERRY... at least he is proposing better changes than Bush.

The cut-off date for FY2004 has been a standstill in May (F2B), and it has moved very slowly eversince. And the same will be happending FY2005? What about for those approved applications already sitting in the Consulates? Does it mean that even if one's priority date is current, one still has to wait for the cut-off date to reach one's priority date to get a visa no.? How can it be possible folks? Vivek have you seen the Oct. bulletin?

I thought that if the processing time for I-130 has improved recently then we the beneficiaries should all benefit from it. But on the contrary it has proved otherwise. By shortening the processing time for I-130 also means the slow movements of cut-off dates. You folks out there agree?

Mo--If you think a general amnesty such as Kerry proposes will improve processing, you're a dreamer and sorely ignorant of the way things work. A mass amnesty or even Bush's guest worker program would mean resources (workers, money, time) diverted from processing existing applications to setting up and administering new legalization programs. Why do you think things are so bad now? Try processing all the relatives brought in by beneficiaries of the 1986 amnesty, as well as new or expanded programs such as H1-B, TPS, and 245i. Each of these added to the backlog.
