Thread: what is it?

  1. #1
Thanksgiving - a time to acknowledge not the obvious, but that, which is often overlooked. ............

B - Better to be remembered, than to be forgotten, or worse yet, to be treated as if one never existed.

E - Experiences are defined as having firsthand personal knowledge of situations, emotions, or sensations. Experiences are shared and others are impacted by feelings, choices and reactions. Turning one's back or failing to take responsibility for one's actions, hoping that this will correct the past, simply exacerbates the negative impact upon the other. Like traversing the fresh blanket of newly driven snow, all encounters and choices leave an impression. As one travels through life, one should leave gentle footprints in the hearts of others.

T - Truth and trust are the bricks and mortar that give stability and security to any undertaking. Truth placed upon truth creates structure. Trust, the mortar, is the cement that stabilises it and to build without either is an exercise in futility .If one is inclined to consider another gullible for openly offering trust and truth, remember that without both, nothing can have a firm foundation.

H - Hope is light at the end of a tunnel, without which one cannot know in which direction to move. To be robbed of hope is to live in a tunnel of perpetual darkness.

A - Apathy is an acute and harsh message of indifference and unwelcome. If another's presence is temporarily inconvenient, so state it. Time changes all things and what appears useless, untimely or cumbersome today, due to the unpredictable nature of life, could indeed be a treasure of tomorrow.

N - Noise and activity can be overwhelming and even annoying at times: phones ringing, people talking, text messages chiming, email box overflowing, but activity is acknowledgment that one is alive and noticed. Silence and inactivity, the alternatives, make one wonder if one exists at all.

K - Kindness is understanding, forgiving and appreciating. Be it from someone who has everything, or from someone who has nothing, kindness is the richest gift of all.

F - Friendship offered should never be considered an encumbrance. Rather it should be regarded as a lighthouse built on the shore, emitting a beacon of light to help in navigating the coast. One hopes not to have the occasion to have to rely on friendship, but knowing it is there keeps one from going aground.

U - Uncertainty. No one can predict what could happen in the future. All that one had yesterday could be gone tomorrow. So as you sit around the Thanksgiving table today, savour not the feast but the pleasant hubbub of people and friends that choose to share this time with you. For only when the phone ceases to ring, the email box is empty and the table is set for one, alone, can one really comprehend the cruel uncertainty of life. Cherish real treasures today.

L - Life involves interaction with people. Being alive is experiencing, responding, sensing, feeling, giving and receiving. When past experiences have been so cruel to cause one to become unable or fearful to interact, one is inanimate..

Sometimes, no matter what you think or how it appears to you , someone could still be thankful..

It would be better for all if there was less of a misunderstanding between people.

    May God bless you ALL,
    and
    Happy Thanksgiving!
