Thread: INS Processing Times - Help with Translation Please

The last post did not work so I'll try again...

Could someone help explain what the Processing Times mean for the various forms.

    1) Processing for Initial Receipt Date

    2) Receipt Notice Processing Times

So for example an I-751 out of VSC has the following:

Proc. Init. Rct Date Rct Notice Proc. Time
    Nov 1, 2001 360

I assume that means that folks who filed in November are just now having their I-751 processed which then will take another 360 days. This would then make the total duration for an I-751 application 600 days (Nov to July = 240 days + 360 days to consider the request?) Meaning that the I-751 out of VSC takes almost 2 yrs to process?

Am I correct with this interpretation?

Based on my investigations, this does indeed seem to be the case... So here is the timeline I have had to deal with:

Married US citizen - July 1999
Applied for AOS from H1 - Aug 1999
Marriage Interview - Oct 2000 (Which should have only taken 3 months but at Newark takes 15 mos)
    Now submitting I-751
VSC will not even start to process that until around Mar/Apr 2003
Estimated time if approved: 360 days = Apr 2004
Time to receive GC after approval 60-90 days sp that makes it July 2004.

So a simple - straight forward Marriage based GC will take 5 years in the Newark Area.

A word to the wise: If you can delay the filing of your marriage based petition for a GC for 6 or 7 months (perhaps on a valid visa already like I was) you will save yourself 2 to 3 years by having your initial interview more than 2 years after you are married. If my initial interview would have been in July 2001 (instead of Oct 2000) I would have personally saved 3 years!!!! A leason hard learned!

    What a funky system....

I truely agree with about this Funky system....I have the same problem like you in California and I got married in December 1998.
and still waitiing for my I-751

At the same timeother people in Texas and Nebraska center get their I-751 proved or denied in less than 2 months.( it is better to get the result ...No matter what)

You can discuss that with Marie in this board and she 'll tell you that she got the result in less than 2 months.(I-751)

These are all because that when these people are born here then they totally forget that their ancesters were absolutely desperate to come here and were willing just to have a better life!!!!

I totally agree that they need to investigate and screen the criminals but at the same time they should consider the time and the pressure on the ordinary people.

It is like that people in Texas work more efficient and Sufficient.!

Well I hope that you get the result soon and post it here for us to know.

    Good luck in Immigration Maze

You know it's weird because the Texas service center is behind on Adjustment of Status but they are ahead of the other centers when it comes to having the conditions removed.

It's just all a waiting game.

I hope you guys get your answers soon!
