Thread: What will happen if Senator Kerry wins?

  1. #1
Senator Kerry sounds way more intellectual and wiser than President Bush. Kerry sounds speaking using his own brain but Bush sounds speaking what his gurus asked him to speak. Also, Kerry sounds he will make vital decision using his own judgements, but Bush sounds using the judgement of Cheney and Republican clique. Nothing wrong to work in team if you lack your own judgement. It should not have been necessarily harmful to the country and the world if the team was good.

However, Kerry is also an average American politician. How he will address some vital issues facing this country and the world:

    a. Kerry will give new face to America so that Europe and UN can make a fresh start in issues like global environmental, internatioanl court, global poverty, middle east peace process, HIV aids pandemic.
But, Kerry is not all enough. What matters is the Congress in most of these issues. Republicans in particular and many democrats in general will not let him do these all things. More than that, Kerry is also an arrogant American and he will have to face the Arrogant american Congress and people. The 'freedom fries' mentality of this country is the main obstacle to this country's ability to get along with the rest of the world. Kerry is part of it.

    b. Kerry will address the issue of immigration? If a presidential decree was enough and if he would not need to face the election with vicious Republican on the opposition, perhaps he would do something to alleviate this problem to some extent. But the huge anti-immigrant sentiment that exists in the population, which is natural in my opinion, will not let overhaul of the system. Rather, there will be some peacemeal efforts like, 245i extention for one year. This will not do anthing good.

There is not alternative to immigration for the lasting progress and comeptitiveness of this country which Bill Clinton knew very well but could do nothing. Whatever solution Bush and Kerry may try to put forth to the burgeoning problem of medicare and social security, immigration of productive foreigners is the only solution. Why Canada is so desperate? Why Australia and New Zealand are so desperately promoting skilled immigration? American competitiveness in the 21st centry solely rests on its ability to pool the skilled manpower of the world in its favor. Until and unless the flow of skilled manpower of the world to America does not fall significantly, Americans will take it for granted and will do nothing to respect the contribution of immigrants. Until China, India and some Latin American countries in particular are able to retain their manpower, Americans will keep using these people and major immigration reform will not be in the agenda of this country. So, for some two to three decades, it may remain so.

    c. the Black population of this country will entertain a democrat president because they were told that Democrats are better as Bill Clinton was better. It will be easier to reach them and cool down them if there is a kind of uprising at any time as the Black leaders are more attached with the Democrats. But Black people should not forget that it is not the president that drives the police car and puts them into prison just because he was black and was walking around the neighborhood. It is the system where both Democrats and Republicans are more or less equally responsible. However, we should not forget that in the 8 year period of Bill Clinton, blacks came up with a lot self-respect and confidence. So, something on top can boost the morale and hope.

Correct me if I am wrong.
