the reason I ask is that a friend of mine introduced the petition for his wife at a consular post last week in a DCF process and the petition was approved on the spot. They gave his wife packet 3 and 4 and asked her to call after the medical to schedule an interview.

DCF is one of the fastest method to get visa for spouse. The whole process sometimes takes less than 60 days. As long as the evidence enough, the I-130 will be approved. Spouse to USC is considered 'immediate relative' which they will get the visa number immediately without waiting. It also depends on the consular whether to approve it soon or not. Not only that, the USC spouse will get green card when she entered US without having hassle for AOS and so on. She or he also can work immediately in US. The whole process done from the consular. Not all consular accept DCF.

I'm not a lawyer, pls act accordingly.

what is DCF and AOF? Which country did your friend petition his wife in? Did she apply for K3 visa? I have a similar case that will deal with US embassy in France.

DCF is Direct Consular Filing (its K3 visa) but done at the Consular or embassy directly. What you have to do is to call France Embassy and ask if they do DCF.
