Thread: Waiver with State Dept.

    Hi,

I applied for the 2 yr residency waivership with the State Department. My lawyer said I can expect it in about 2 weeks after they receive it, but it's been a month since I've applied and have yet to receive my case number. Does anyone have an idea of when I can expect to get my case number?
The state Dept's site said all of their correspondence may take a while as it needs to be decontaminated from anthrax at their Ohio decontamination facility. I appreciate any input if anyone that has experienced this. Thanks

This is 2nd part question to my thread...

Once I receive my case number and my embassy sent a No Objection Letter on my behalf to the State Dept., does anyone know when I can expect to get a reply of the State Dept.'s decision of my waivership?

I believe that if you have your case number you can check the status online at the DOS site.

If you are applying for a waiver of grounds of inadmissibility, you apply with the embassy or consulate where you filed your application. Decisions should not take two years. If you are in the U.S. you cannot apply for a waiver, you must be outside the U.S. to apply for a DOS waiver.
