Thread: How Long?

I am filing a Fiance' Petition and was wondering if anyone could tell me the minimal time that my fiance' would have to stay here in the U.S. before he would be able to return to his country to visit his family? We are planning on getting married as soon as he reaches the U.S. I am a USC.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Seham,

I too am petitioning the US gov't to allow my fiancee to enter the US for the purpose of marriage. It is my understanding that immediately after the marriage, your new husband must apply for adjustment of status which is the I-485 form. To obtain the greencard, an EAD or employment authorization document must be completed and, "advance parole" should be requested at that time if you two know that you will travel outside the US before the greencard arrives.
Please, let me know how it is going and share any info you may get.

Thank you so much Toria for your response. I should could use a friend to relate with concerning this situation. Would there be anyway we could exchange e-mail addresses? I would love to hear from you and your updates also on how things are going for you and your fiance.

Thank you for understanding and I hope to hear from you again.
