Thread: Time to panic yet?

I am on H-1B visa. I won DV-2003 and filed an I-485 in October 2002. When I handed my packege in, the officer told me that I would receive a fingerprint notice in 30 days. It has been 70 days now and I have not received anything regarding my case. My company wants to send me abroad for a project. I am afraid that something will arrive when I am not in the States and I will miss an interview or something. How can I obtain some information about the status of may case?
Also some particioants on this board posted that sometimes INS can not complete the process by September 2003. Is that so? Should I panic now or should I panic later?

You don't have to panic necessarily, but you can get upset at least.

You should have done consular processing rather than AOS (I-485), because there's little chance I-485 can be processed within a year these days.

Is it possible to withdraw I-485 application and start all over with the consular processing?
