I am waiting for green card interview. May be a stupid question but......
    What form is that?

I-485 is the adjustment of status from a Non Immigrant Visa Class to an Immigrant Visa class with a green card.

I-130 is the petition for Alien Relative.
I-485 is application to register permanent resident or adjust status.

Before you can get PR status, you have to use both of the above forms to change your status, also some other related forms to it Hope this answer your question. Have a nice day and good luck.

The only form you might need to bring to the interview is the medical form- they will tell you that (and it doesn't apply if you had to submit it with your original application. I assume that to get to this step you already put in 130, 485, etc.

    Hi Katycab,

When I originally filed about 13 months ago, I filed my medical then. So when I go for my interview I won't have to bring it with me? I would have thought it might have expired after a year as did my work author.
I have filed all the necessary paperwork up until this point. I received my work author. and had to give fingerprints. My last step is waiting for letter for my interview, which will hopefully be very soon! So basically, the I-130 is for my green card and the I-485 I get after I get my green card.
Thanks so much for your help.

I suppose I am a bit confused about your question. But the I-130 is the application "for a green card", and the I-485 is the application to have the interview to get the green card *in* the United States. "Normally", processing of a visa is done *outside* the United States, and you have to go through a process to get it done without leaving to approve your right to change from one type of visa to the green card. So all the forms (130, 485, 864, etc) are sent together as part of one process. After the interview you will receive the I-551 stamp in your passport- the "green card". Is this the information you are looking for?
