Thread: Extension of stay for my mother: PLEASE help

    Hi:

My mom came to visit me in 2001, had a stroke followed by demensia and a second degree burn (had to be hospitalized twice and I paid all the bills that was not covered by insurance). Now she is completely confused, not ambulatory and needs constant help for her day to day activities. I already got extension for her for 3 times. Now as her current I-94 is expiring again, I need to file another extension for her. Her physician alrady gave me a letter stating her condition and saying she is not recommended to travel abroad at this time. I am a green card holder for four years. Now, my question is what is the chance that her application will be approved again? Also, if INS denies the application what should I do? Justing thinking of plan B ahead. No way, she can travel now or go back home and live by herself at this condition.

    Thanks for your help.

If her Doctor has given a note that she is not in a position to travel, then Immigration will give her extension. You can apply for your Naturalization 90 days prior to your 5th Anniversary of AOS/GC.
