Thread: Marriage of 2 people with pending Skilled Worker Immigrant applications (for Canada)

  1. #1
Hello. My girlfriend and I have each submitted a skilled worker immigrant application to the local Canadian Embassy. It's now been 2 years since we submitted our applications and we are planning to get married soon. My questions are: Is it better to wait for the decision on our immigration applications before we get married? Would our application be affected if we get married before the final decision of our applications come out? I have searched the net for a similar situation such as ours (2 people who both have pending immigrant applications who want to get married to each other) but couldn't find any. I hope someone here can help us out. Thanks!

This site is primarily for people coming into the US. You may not get a lot of response. Have you checked Canadian boards?

you may want to post your inquiry at http://www.britishexpats.com/forum/f33, and hopefully someone may answer for you.
    good luck.

    To crimon8:
Your marriage will not hurt your petition instead it will double chances of both of you in case immigrant petition of approved. If one petition is approved and other is rejected still being a married couple could immigrate to Canada.
    Good luck.

Could someone who is illegally in the United States file an application to immigrate to Canada?
    Have a nice day

Not to my knowledge. It is not commingly done as US and Canadian Immigration Authorities work more closely togheter now.

You would have to include you current residency and status in the Canadian app and they could report you to US authorities.

I am not a lawyer nor do I claim to be one so please double-check any information given by me, or anyone else for that matter, with a certified (immigration)lawyer before you take any further steps.

far from it. Most people who file from the US to Canada are actually US illegals.

after NSEERS was announced. THOUSANDS of mid-easterners and lovely terrorists ran to CAnada and were welcomed with open arms.
