Thread: OPT: Please HELP! Really urgent!

I find myself in deeper trouble than before. I had applied for my EAD card on April 29 to the Vermont Service Center. Nothing happened up until now, and I just got a call from my aunt in Texas that my entire OPT application that I had submitted to the Vermont Service Center has been returned to her with a note (in a blue form) stating that I should file the application with the Texas Service Center.

I beleive that is so as I had given my aunts address in Texas as opposed to my regular NY address as I have graduated and I do not have any permanent address. I did so on the advice of my school authorities who said that I should give a permanent address to avoid losing the EAD card etc. by mail.

I am extremely worried as it is now June 15, more than 45 days have passed since my initial application to the VSC (April 29). And my job is due to start Aug.4th. Its as though I never applied and have to do so all over again, just because I gave the address as a Texas address.

What should I do now? Will the Texas Center accept and process my application, as I am worried that now I have graduated and am past the application deadline? Also, is there anything I can do to let them know that I had indeed applied earlier and I need the EAD card before August, that it is really not my fault that the school advised me to apply to the Vermont Center? I am terribly confused and stressed out. Can you suggest what I should do?

You should send this application to Texas Service Center asap. You should enlcose copy of letter received from VSC and tell them that due to oversight it was sent to VSC. If you will mentioned that you intentially gave that address of your aunt, then they will ask you to correct your address again and send it to appropriate Service Center. It would be better to forward it to TSC asap.
    Good luck.
