Recently I received new H1b approval, that is valid from Oct 1, 2005. This is the first time I am going on H1b, I read some stories they may ask lot of questions at the border for issuing I-94 for first time. Could you please share your experiences? So that I can prepare my self Please Help. 1) What type of questions they may ask? 2) How many days before we can enter US? 3) Can I apply SSN on same day I enter or we have to wait for couple of days? 4) I don't have US address, Can I give Canadian address for SSN? 5) What are the chances of rejecting entry? You should not have any problem entering the US. I am a Canadian on H1B too and I enter/exit the US a dozen times a year. They typically only ask what you do. I am not sure if you can be admitted under H1B prior to Oct 1 but most likely they will because once they complied with my request to stamp my wife's passport to the same expiration as mine eventho the visa on her passport was earlier, so there is a little flexibility. You should be able to apply for a SSN once your H1B becomes effective. Not sure about the address, I drove the first time and they only asked where I headed.
Thanks a lot, Is it better to call US customs before going to border? We never know some officers are strict and they may think different way, any way i will be entering in Sep 2005, But i will confirm with them.
