  • Filing for citizenship

I am an USC.My husband is a LPR,got his green card in 1986.He was arrested in 1993 for buying food stamps from an undercover agent. He pleaded guilty, because nobody told him about deportation by the INS, he got 3 years probation, no jail time. And that was a felony. Now he is more than
50 years old and has 2 US born minor children. He never got any letter from the INS for deportaion.Heis planning to file for citizenship! Is this a good idea to file for citizenship now?.Please advice.

Better not, fraud may be considered as aggravated felony, which I believe it is. Aggravated felony,s definition has steadily been expanded that it includes drunk driving also.
