  • supporting illegal aliens means attacking our republic

It is simple. Our nation is a republic. Republic means rule by law. Our freedom and liberty come from the rule of law. An assault on the rule of law is an assault on our freedom and liberty. If illegal aliens were not illegal they would not be called illegal aliens. Anyone who supports illegal aliens is attacking the rule of law and our nation. Nothing is more important than the rule of law and our rights.

You know who is attacking the Republic? George Bush, Dan Ashcroft, Dick Cheney. have you looked around lately? What do you think Ken LAy feels about the Republic?

It is so easy to blame those weaker and poorer than you because you do not have the courage to fight the real enemies of democracy and the rule of law (which applied only the poor anyway).

You will complain till you are blue in the face about the few hundred dollars an illegal MAY be able to scam from the system. Meanwhile the corporations and Wall Street steal BILLIONS and you call it the American way.

      Think about it.

You make a great point. I do believe immigrants are always the scapegoat when our economy is bad. I want to hear somebody get very angry at the many businesses that hire and exploit these people.

        To guest.
I believe obeying the law and behaving oneself is essential in America. However, what you fail to realize is that immigration law is unlike other laws. Many people cannot enter the country because they do not fall into any preference category and do not qualify for any visa. Why are some countries and certain people allowed immigration priveleges while others are not? In light of 9/11 I understand the scrutiny for some countries, but what about other countries? Immigration law needs to be fair across the board, and allow people, like in Mexico, to have an avenue to come to the U.S. like others.

What is necessary is for people from other countries to show some spine and fix problems in their own nation. Make their own country a beautiful and properous place to live. It is easy to run away from problems.

Nevermind other countries, I am talking about ours, and our immigration laws. You sound like a politician, make these broad statements but fail to face our situation realistically.

I love you already. It's clear that "guest" is a redneck. He sounds like and probably is a fool - 'why don't they fix their problems and stay in their country'.

Everyone don't want to come here - trust me. That simple shows how much you know.

Guest is not blaming the immigrants for what happenned 9/11 - he hated them a long time ago -his brilliant mother taught him that - i guess.

Immigrants are implicitly legal. Illegal aliens do not belung here and must be deported. Deporting millions of illegal aliens is simple.

Yup Guest. Go ahead and repeat your self over and over again without addressing any of the points made here. Works for Bush and his "war on terror". It will work for you as well. Just not with me.

2-19-03 A raid and deportation in Utah. The immigration laws of our great nation must be enforced.

Indeed they must be enforced, which is the crux of the problem. Coming from a family involved in construction I can attest to the fact that raids do happen. However, especially over the past few years, they are few and far between. INS raids are virtually non-existent except in cases where there is blatant criminal activity or now with the terrorism. The amount of time, manpower, and money spent on raids is too much to conduct raids frequently and on a large scale. I feel bad for the INS because they are definitely overwhelmed, overworked, and it is a thankless job in many respects. Because of this there will never, or at least in the forseable future, be any "round ing" up of illegals. Just the way things are. (Besides, there are many other places to find undocumented workers than Utah!)

I know of large undocumented communities in and around the Los Angeles area and believe me people such as yourself have complained to the INS. Do they have the time and personnel to "round them up?" They are there and will remain there for the rest of their lives, which is makes more sense for regularization ......

Some people have said that amnesty, guest workers, regularization, normalization, etc. for illegal aliens is rewarding people for breaking the law. It certinly is rewarding lawbreakers. Some call it outright treason. It is also that. But the real Americans call it something else. Surrender. America has never or will never surrender. Illegal aliens must be deported and the military used to secure the border.

Again I'll ask, are you in favor of legal immigration?

Once you realize that many of these hard working people are here to stay, then you are out of touch with reality. Refer to my last post as to why large scale deportations is not going to happen. Face it. That's the way things are. I know you don't like it, and I don't care much for the situation either, but those are the cards we were dealt in regards to immigration. We can either find the best solution, or keep whining and complaining like those who think like you.

I'm not advocating amnesty, which is different than regularization. The best way to deal with these people is to allow them to prove they are worthy to be in the U.S. I don't advocate giving them automatic citizenship. Let them prove they will work, have a job, stay out of trouble, pay their taxes, etc. Them they should be allowed permanent resident status, not citizenship. After several years of being law-abiding residents, perhaps 10, they should be allowed to apply for citizenship. Right now that is the only feasible solution to our phenomenon,do you have a better one?

hey guest show some spine and over to one of the third world countries and "fix" it. You seem to think that is an easy thing to do, and that all it takes is a little motivation, so I can't imagine why it is so hard for everyone living there to do it... but I am sure that someone like yourself can do it.

So please show some spine, and fix third world countries so that there will be no true need for illegal immigration, and we can thereby know that illegal immigration has drastically decreased.

Please for all of us, it is your duty - if you know how to fix it, go and fix it.

and who is going to clean our houses? take care of our elderly? pick our fruit?

I'll make you a deal - you get signatures from 200,000 N. American workers that guarantee that they will do these jobs - and I will help you to stage a protest, and make changes in the laws. I will dedicate my life to helping you get rid of the illegal "pestilence" - if you can guarantee that only 200,000 of those jobs will be filled!
