  • "I have the card, I can leave at any time??????

To me, this is a profound statement. The husband says to the wife...."Now that I have
the card, I can leave at any time, we're done."
I can move and see you once in a while.".....this
man just received his "permanent resident card"...
should the wife inform INS about this?

The couple has been married 1 year, 8 months...
so is this permanent resident status, conditional for a 2 year period....or what...I thought
the waiting period on this was 2 years from the
      AOS interview...on this anniversary....so is
      he now...conditional permanent resident....
      or permanent resident card....?

In reading the document from INS...it says..
that the resident status is conditional....and you must apply before the card expires, I assume in
2 years.....so there seems to be deception here...
        what is opinions of others?

The husband will have a nasty surprise when it comes time to visit USCIS for the removal of the conditional GC.
Better yet, he might not even showed up, then his GC will be revoked.

I'm wondering should I just write a note and
have it put in his file..when it comes up
for review? I am not mad, I am not bitter...
I was shocked at his statement. What happends
at the removal of the conditional GC or
conditional permanent residence card? Don't I
have the time frame correct? It is 2 years
after the AOS..successful interview.... I asked him about this..... and he said...."This is nothing, I don't have to do anything for this..
just send in a paper." I'm not sure about this.

I believe for the removal of the conditional
permanent residence or conditional green card...
you do "need the wife"...and some more documents,
              isn't that true?

I think my advice to him...."Is to soft pedal
the wife, and the girl friend and balance...
he is totally stressed out....It is my opinion
that he needs the wife....and that "really
he cannot do anthing that he wants at this
time."...he needs to "turn his act around
and treat the wife with common decency"....
i'm sure the girl friend is pressuring him...
she has no clue about his marriage. She needs
                to know.Don't you think?

As for the removal condition, yes you need the "wife" but they can also divorce the wife and claim irreconciable difference (sp?). Yes, the 2yrs frame is correct. Your husband might trying to deceive you right now from not taking any action so he can "slip by" on the removal of condition interview.

With all due respect, you might be shocked right now, but from the direction this is going, anger and bitterness will soon follows.
You might want to message swissnut. She's dealing with this situation right now and has wealth of information on how to best proceed (if you intend to stop him from getting the GC that is).

So, do you think it is advisable for the wife..
should put a letter with the statement in it...
on file with the INS? She doesn't know what
is going to happen..no one does....What is the
                      opinion?

I thought that the conditions are to be removed at the two year anniversary of the marriage, not the AOS interview. Was I wrong? The reason I think this is that an BCIS officer told me that since we will already have passed our two year anniversary when my husband finally gets his greencard, it will automatically be a permanent one.
                        Have a nice day

                          I am the wife.

I believe it is 2 years at the AOS interview...
                          not the marriage.

On the paper from INS , it says...that the
card will expire in 2 years from the permanent resident date...that is the AOS interview....
(so it is not the marriage)...so now, he is
                            conditional permanent resident...
