  • I-751 Waiver - Joint tax filing?

One of the things i always read whenever it comes to evidence sent is "Joint taxes". I actually didn't file for joint taxes, not only because my wife and I separated before we filed for taxes, but because it was in our best interest (due to our combined income) to file separately. Legally you don't HAVE TO file jointly.

This is the evidence i have so far:
    -Joint Lease
-Joint bank accounts (2 separate banks)
-Joint health insurance (with tens of receipts for my wife's visits to doctors)
    -Joint car insurance
    - Both driver's licenses and car registrations show the same address.
    -2 wedding gift registries
-Boarding passes for 2 separate trips
    -Joint T-Mobile family plan
-Several letters that shows we reside at the same address
    -about 55 photos
-4 affidavits, including one from the marriage counselor at which we underwent marriage counselling.

Now, do they specifically look for joint taxes, even if i have alot of other evidence of bona fide marriage? Do you think the evidence I have is sufficient?

The documents you have shown should be sufficient. They may still ask for your tax returns if there is an interview, but I don't think it'll be an issue.

It's not a requirement, but it's just something that the average married American couple does, so they expect the same when it comes to proving legitimate marriages. You seem to have enough supporting documentation to prove a bona fide marriage existed, so you shouldn't have a problem.

        best of luck!
