when i asked about the 1130 interview you said both couples have to be present for change of status but my wife is still outside of the us and i never filed a 1129 fiance petiton i had the paper work done in my country and came back to the states and processed them. what do you mean by change of status isnt that for people already in the usa.im saying this because my brother did the same thing and he didnt have to be present.did they change the laws or are you talking about two diffrent things.

When I wrote that answer, I was under the impression that your wife is also in the United States.
If she is in her country then you do not need to be present at her interview at American Consulate.
      Good luck.
