  • Catch 22 in renunciation STUCK HELP! I'm pulling my hair out!

I am US Citizen of Indian Origin and need to be in India for 2 weeks in January, 2015.

I don't have a copy of my naturalization certificate anymore. This is required to get the renunciation certificate, which is required to get visa.

How can I get a visa? Any suggestions??

What did the Indian Consulate say when you told them you no longer had it?

You're going to have to get another copy of your naturalization certificate through the USCIS- http://www.uscis.gov/n-565

Curious, there is no such amnesty. For some who has been here for atleast 10 years, they become eligible for cancellation of deporation/removal. But they have to show that they have a qualifying U.S. citizen/resident relative that would face extreme and unusal hardship if the alein is deported/removed.
