  • Do I need to submit I-693?

I'm going to have my Green Card/Permanent Resident interview soon. Do I need to submit a medical exam (I-693) or bring it to the interview with me? and is there any fees? if so, how much would it be?.

Generally, the physician will forward the medical to the USCIS office or Consulate themselves. You need to see a physician approved by the USCIS and you should do it in plenty of time for your interview - they will not approve you until they have it.

You will have to pay for the exam and related costs, such as any vaccinations you may need and the X-Ray etc. A ball park figure would be around $300, but it really depends on where you're doing the exam and what, if any, extra costs you may incur.

No worries. They should send you a list of approved physicians. It's a good idea to call each one and ask what their fees are as there will be differences.

If possible, try and get records of previous vaccinations you've had prior to the appointment. If you can't prove you've had them, you will be required to have them again. One tip here is to ask if there's a test to check your immunity and if so, what is the cost of that, as well as the cost of the vaccination itself. For some, the immunity test is cheaper but for others, it's not. Obviously, if they find you have no immunity, you'll have to go back and pay for that shot regardless, so it should only be if you're sure you've had the vaccine.
