FMLA and H1B

I am currently on H1B visa and my wife just had a baby. My employer allows up to 26 weeks for unpaid Leave of Absense related to a child birth under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Can I remain on H1B with my employer while being on the leave?
