  • Green Card parent, child in the US illegally?

I know this thread have been discussed in the past but i was hoping to get clearer answer this time.

Can a green card holder parent petition a child who is over 18 and is living out of status here in the US?

Any helpful advice is much appreciated!

Yes, parent can petition a child, but child would be unable to adjust status in US if he/she is unlawfully present. Going for consular processing would mean exiting USA and a ban on re-entry.

If the parent becomes USC before child turns 21, child can stay and adjust status.
